Tsuga Tsuga (Tsuga canadensis) has a fresh, clean scent. Tsuga oil is distilled from the needles and
twigs of conifer trees.
What is Tsuga?
Tsuga essential oil is not very well known.
The bark from these trees was used by Native Americans to make poultices.
Tsuga belongs to the pine tree family and it is very similar to pine
oil in usage and strength.
Tsuga is uplifting to the emotions as it opens and elevates while grounding
at the same time. Tsuga can be used topically in massage for soothing and calming tension with minor aches and pains.
Some have found it excellent for Yoga and Meditation.
Tsuga properties include: Analgesic, antirheumatic, blood cleanser,
stimulant;treats cough, respiratory conditions, kidney
ailments, and assist with urinary infections.
Tsuga has an approximate ORAC of 71,314 (TE/L).
TE/L is expressed as micromole Trolox equivalent per liter.
How to use: For aromatic or topical use only.
Possible skin sensitivity. If pregnant or under a doctor's care, consult your physician.
Please note: Tsuga should not be confused with hemlock plants (cicuta and conium)
as it is completely unrelated to the poisonous hemlock herb. The common name hemlock is
derived from a perceived similarity in the smell of the crushed foliage to that of the
unrelated herb poison hemlock; see hemlock for other senses of the word.
Unlike the herb, the species of Tsuga are not poisonous.
