Melaleuca Quinquenervia
Therapeutic Grade - Essential oil
Melaleuca Quinquenervia (Niaouli)
Melaleuca quinquenervia (Niaouli) essential oil supports skin health.
Melaleuca quinquenervia is anti-inflammatory, anti-infectious, antibacterial,
antiviral, and antiparasitic (amoeba and parasites in the blood).
Melaleuca quinquenervia relieves mucous in the respiratory passages,
urinary tract, and genital organs, digestive tonic, and reduces hypertension
(high blood pressure).
Melaleuca quinquenervia is strongly antiseptic, and also has expectorant properties,
so is often used in steam inhalations for respiratory tract infections, respiratory
allergies, infections, and hemorrhoids.
Chemical Constituents: Sesquiterpenes; Monoterpene alcohols: linalol; Sesquiterpene alcohols: (+)-trans- nerolidol (81-82%), farnesols; Terpene oxides: 1.9 cineol.
Niaouli has been noted by Dr. Kurt Schnaubelt (if you are not familiar with him, he has spoken at our
Young Living Convention in the past, and was one of Gary Young’s original mentors.
He founded the Pacific Institute of Aromatherapy in CA) as an excellent general immune system booster,
and an agent to help one with allergic reactions. Dr. Kurt Schnaubelt's protocol is the application of 5-20 drops of oil directly to the skin after a shower, for best absorption.
Niaouli oil is considered an analgesic, antiseptic, bactericide, cicatrisant (helps to close wounds), insecticide, decongestant and vermifuge (expels parasitic worms from digestive tract).
Melaleuca quinquenervia is higher in cineole than tea tree (Melaleuca alternifolia),
and lower in terpinen-4-ol, so its properties could almost be described as being
intermediate between
tea tree and
eucalyptus.
How to Use: Diffuse or apply topically.
