Blue cypress (Callitris intratropica) essential oil is steam distilled from the wood of the tree, which is indigenous to Australia.
Blue cypress has a wide variety of traditional uses, which include supporting the body’s natural response to irritation and injury as well as aiding normal breathing. Blue cypress oil also has historical use as an additive in perfumes and as an adhesive. Blue cypress was used for incense, perfume and embalming in ancient times.
Chemical Constituents: Selinenes, gaueenes, guaiol, lactones, eudesmols, elemol, and guaiazulene.
Action: Anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, effective against herpes simplex, herpes zoster, cold sores,
and human papilloma virus. Blue cypress essential oil is useful as an insect repellant.
Blue cypress also relieves abdominal cramps, minor aches and pains. Blue cypress releases the emotions of pessimistic, rampage and ruthlessness. It releases irritation on a mental and physical level. It has a cooling effect on emotions because it is physically an anti-inflammatory.
How to use: Topical: Apply 2–4 drops directly to desired area. Dilution not required except for the most sensitive skin.
Aromatic: Diffuse up to one hour three times daily. Keep out of reach of children. If you are pregnant, nursing, taking medication, or have a medical condition, consult a health-care practitioner prior to use.
