Angelica
Angelica oil (Angelica archangelica) has soothing qualities that help relax nerves and muscles.
Traditional medicine practitioners used angelica as a stimulant, digestive tonic, and expectorant.
In Germany, angelica was historically referred to as the “oil of angels,” in part because
of its ability to calm anxiety, restore happy memories, and bring peaceful sleep.
Angelica is anticoagulant and sedating to the nervous system. Angelica reduces inflammation
of the intestinal wall. Emotionally, Angelica Oil is calming, assisting in the release of pent-up negative feelings.
Extraction Method: Steam distilled from root.
Chemical Constituents: Monoterpenes (73%): phellandrene, a-and B-pinenes, limonene (13%); Esters; Terpene alkaloids; Coumarins: bergoptene.
Traditional Uses: Known as the “holy spirit root” or the “oil of angels” by the Europeans, angelica had healing powers so strong that it was believed to be of divine origin. From the time of Paracelsus, it was credited with the ability to protect from the plague. The stems were chewed during the plague of 1660 to prevent infection. When burned, the seeds and roots were thought to purify the air.
Indications: Angelica may help with bruises, colic, coughs, respiratory infections, indigestion, menopause, premenstrual tension, loss of appetite, and rheumatic conditions.
Application: Apply to Vita Flex points of shoulders, on bottom of feet or diffuse.
Fragrant Influence: Angelica brings memories back to the point of origin before trauma or anger was experienced, helping us to release and let go of negative feelings. It is soothing and calming.
NOTE: Because angelica contains bergopten, it may be photosensitizing and should not be applied to skin that will be exposed to direct sunlight or ultraviolet light within 72 hours.
How to use: Dietary: Dilute one drop with V-6™ Enhanced Vegetable Oil Complex or other vegetable oil (e.g., virgin coconut, olive, almond). Put in a capsule and take up to three times daily or as needed.
Topical: Dilute one drop with V-6 or other vegetable oil; apply to desired area.
Aromatic: Diffuse up to 30 minutes three times daily. Keep out of reach of children. If you are pregnant, nursing, taking medication, or have a medical condition, consult a health-care practitioner prior to use. Avoid direct sunlight for up to 12 hours after applying product.
