Acidity: Balsam Fir and Frankincense
Gary Young, speaking at the 2005 Young Living Convention in Utah, on the
topic of essential oils in relation to acidity in the body:
"If oils show great benefits in vitro (petrie dish), they do not necessarily show the same
results in vivo (because the acid balance of the body cannot be duplicated in vitro).
So if you are using an oil, and it doesn't produce an effect within 15 minutes to 12 hours,
change oils. If you are sick (acidic), the acid eats up the oils very quickly. You need to
persist with the essential oils, and use lots.
1 capsule per day won't do any good.
As oils are in the process of neutralising acid, the by-product of this is skin rashes.
So it's important to drink 2 to 3 times more water than usual. Viruses and bacteria are
acid agents. Essential oils surrender to acid, the acid consumes them, but the acid is
destroyed in the process to become waste. This waste is then released from the body through rashes.
I like to drink the Thieves mouthwash after gargling with it, as it's good for dissolving acids in the body.
The 2 most powerful oils we have at the Young Life clinic in Utah are:
1. Balsam Fir
2. Frankincense
Balsam Fir oil reduces cortisol levels
by up to 30%, and reduces stress. If your cortisol levels are high, this leads to diminished
immune function. High cortisol levels also leads to suppression of testosterone, progesterone
and oestrogen (in fact, all hormones). Therefore, Balsam Fir oil will strengthen immune system,
and also support hormone balance.
Balsam oil was used successfully on Patricia Holmes who had cancer of the parotid gland.
She is alive and well today thanks to Frankincense and Balsam oils. It is also good for burns,
cuts, aches and pains. And if you bathe in balsam and chamomile oils, it has a calming effect.
Planta med. 2003 May 69 (5): 402-7 is
a research paper which notes the antitumoral activity of balsam oil against MCF-7
(the most aggressive line of breast cancer). In fact, balsam oil inhibits all 7 tumor cell
lines that were tested. Young Living is the only company in the world with Idaho Balsam Fir oil.
When mixed with Frankincense,
myrrh and
helichrysum, it is a powerful tool
for regaining health.
The ancient balsam mentioned in the bible was probably Commiphora opobalsamum (although this actual balsam
of antiquity is thought to now be extinct). Young Living's balsam is Albies balsamea.
For more information on Balsam Fir, check out Ethnopharmacol 1997 Aug: 57(3): 219- 22.
"The effect of aqueous extract of Commiphora opobalsamum on blood pressure and heart rate=2 0in rats.
Frankincense (also called "Luban" or manna) was used in ancient times to treat gout, broken head,
arthritis and cancer. The reason it was called "manna" is that it was believed that you could
live forever if you ate it - and that in doing so, any disease would go away by the next "moon".
Frankincense stimulates the anterior pituitary to increase the production of human growth hormone (HgH),
which in turn stimulates the immune response. Frankincense also contains compounds where are very aggressive towards
cancer. Many universities are now studying Frankincense because of this.
There are 5 grades of frankincense.
The first grade is brownish, because it contains fragments of bark.
It is cheaper, and because of this is very popular as an essential oil.
The highest grade of frankincense is called "howdjury" (that's how it's pronounced, not spelt).
It was used for kings and queens only. If slaves were caught with it once, they had one hand
chopped off. If they were caught with it a second time, the other hand was chopped off.
If they were caught with it a third time, they were put to death.
Young Living's frankincense has come from Somalia/Ethiopia. But in ancient times,
Frankincense was mostly from Ubar in Oman. I discovered recently that the Candle tree
("Tree of 1000 cures") in Puerto Rico has a resin almost identical in constituency as
frankincense, but with a hint of eucalyptol.
I believe that what God put on one continent is always mirrored on all other continents for healing."
